Cape Town, South Africa
These were shot in Cape Town and the coast around it. From the city you can drive in almost any direction and end up somewhere worth stopping: over Chapman's Peak to Hout Bay, down the peninsula to the penguins at Boulders Beach, or up Table Mountain for the view back down over the city.
What's in the gallery
Hout Bay harbor: a man cleaning fish on the quay with the yacht marina behind him, another leaning down to a seal at the water's edge, and the takeout stands along Mariner's Wharf. Chapman's Peak Drive and the Atlantic coastline below it. African penguins on the rocks at Boulders Beach. The Ferris wheel at the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain under storm clouds, and the city spread out below the cableway. And everyday Cape Town: a blue corner café on a street under the mountain, two boys in a field of wildflowers, people walking a roadside, a sunset on a rocky beach.
During the same trip we visited Masiphumelele, home to many of the children at the school where we were helping. See Masiphumelele, South Africa and a day trip to Buffelsfontein Game Reserve.
