Santorini, Greece

These photos come from several cruise stops in Santorini. Each visit starts the same way: the ship anchors in the caldera and you look up at white villages balanced along the cliff edge. I spent most of my time in Oia, walking the marble lanes past blue domes and bell towers. The rest of the time I was in Fira, looking down at the cruise ships and the volcano below.

What’s in the gallery

The blue domes of Oia stacked down the cliff, a pink bell tower framed by branches, and the church on the main square. Crowds at the castle ruins, the windmills on the ridge, and cave houses with a turquoise pool. A cruise ship in the caldera beside the volcanic island, sailboats far below the cliffs, a white bell tower above the sea, and yellow daisies growing on the rocks. And down at the waterfront, the old port at the foot of the red cliffs.

More from the Greek islands in Greece, and more cruise stops in Capri.
