Arawak Cay Nassau Bahamas: A Fish Fry in Frame

Locals call it "the Fish Fry, but officially it's Arawak Cay and it sits on the western edge of Nassau. A collection of brightly colored buildings that turn out Bahamian seafood that attracts both locals and tourists. Every stop has it’s own color scheme creating a unique shooting experience in Nassau.

Getting There From the Cruise Port

It's about a mile from the Nassau Cruise Port: a flat, paved thirty minute walk down West Bay Street, or a inexpensive ten-minute taxi ride. No tender, no excursion, no booking. Just walk off the ship, pass thru the cruise terminal, walk one block to Bay Street, make a right, walk past Junkanoo Beach and keep walking along the ocean until you reach Arawak Cay.

Shooting

The whole series was shot midday, under flat Caribbean sun with almost no cloud cover. I knew that the hard light would give me saturated colors which was perfect for the bright colors. If you visit later in the day, you will have softer light and more people that you can integrate into your shots.
