Little Havana, Miami

Little Havana is fifteen minutes from home, and I keep going back. Almost all of this was shot along Calle Ocho, SW 8th Street, the neighborhood's main drag: murals on nearly every wall, classic American cars parked in front of Cuban restaurants, cigar rollers and fruit stands, and on festival days, Cuban flags as far as you can see.

What's in the gallery

The street itself: the El Cuban Diner and Little Havana murals, the Calle 8 Murals corner, a cigar shop at 1336 SW 8th Street, a café patio painted with Havana's Malecón. Classic cars: a teal '57 with a "CUBAN 8" plate, the Cubaocho car under the Old's Havana neon, a two-tone Chevy at a car show. And the people: a fruit vendor among his coconuts, a woman cleaning a counter behind a chain-link fence, crowds and Cuban flags at a street festival, and a man pedaling a shopping cart through the quieter streets behind Calle Ocho.
