San Francisco, California

Two days in San Francisco in April 2025, mostly on foot and on the cable car lines. I followed the Powell–Hyde tracks from Russian Hill down to the bay, walked the waterfront from Fisherman’s Wharf to Aquatic Park, and went through Chinatown and downtown as the light faded. San Francisco is built on hills, so almost every street ends in a view of the bay.

What’s in the gallery

Cable cars climbing Hyde Street with Alcatraz behind them, riders hanging off the running boards, and people crossing the tracks. Fishing boats at the wharf and a Bay Tours sign for Alcatraz and the Golden Gate. The Golden Gate Bridge across the water from Aquatic Park. Chinatown’s signs with the Bay Bridge at the end of the street, the Transamerica Pyramid over a passing cable car, murals, and a few night shots downtown.

More of the West Coast in Los Angeles, and more cities in the Travel galleries.
